Old gold exchange software that does the maths in front of the customer
The most argued-about transaction in an Indian jewellery shop, done in the open. Each old item goes in with its actual weight and purity; the screen shows total actual weight, total wastage and net weight, values it at today's rate, and sets it against the new purchase.
Every dispute about old gold is a dispute about a number nobody saw
A customer brings in three old pieces. Somebody weighs them at the back, somebody deducts something for wastage, and a figure comes back to the counter. The customer has no way to check it and often no idea what wastage even means. That is where the trust goes.
Varadhi Gold puts the calculation on the screen between you. Each item is entered separately with its own type, purity, description and actual weight. The running total shows how many items and how many grams so far, and the summary shows total actual weight, total wastage and the net weight that is actually being paid for.
The result prints as a receipt with its own number, so the customer leaves holding the same figures you have. Whether they walk out with cash or with the balance set against a new necklace, the record is identical.
What the module does
On the exchange screen
- One row per item with type, purity, description and weight; rows can be added and removed while the customer watches.
- A live count of how many items and how many grams have been entered so far.
- Total actual weight, total wastage and net weight as three separate figures.
- The amount paid, worked out from net weight at today's rate for the purity.
- A print / receipt action producing the numbered exchange document.
- Customer lookup by name, code or mobile, so the exchange lands on the right record.
Taking old gold at the counter
An exchange, on paper
One ring received. Total actual weight 10.000 g, total wastage 0.050 g, net weight 9.950 g, and the amount paid against today's rate for that purity — all on a numbered receipt with the customer's name and the date. If they come back next month asking what they got for it, the answer is a document, not a recollection.
Frequently asked questions
Can the customer see how the value was reached?
That is the point of the module. Actual weight, wastage and net weight are three separate figures on the screen, and the rate applied is the shop's rate for that purity on that day. The customer watches the calculation instead of being handed a total.
What if the customer brings several old pieces?
Add a line per piece, each with its own type, purity and weight. The screen keeps a running count of items and grams, and the totals cover the whole lot.
Can the old gold be set against a new purchase?
Yes. The value can be taken off the new piece the customer is buying, so you bill only the balance and the invoice reflects it.
Does the customer get anything in writing?
Yes — a numbered receipt listing the items received, the weights and the amount paid, printed at the counter.
Is the old gold rate the same one used for sales?
It comes from the same daily rate master the sales and loan screens use, so a customer cannot be quoted one rate at one counter and another rate at the next.
Where is my shop's data stored?
In India. Our servers are in a Mumbai data centre. Your customer records, loan book and bills stay yours — we never share them with third parties, and you can export everything to Excel whenever you want.
What if I want to stop using it?
Send one WhatsApp message. We export your full data to Excel, hand it over, and that is that. No contract, no lock-in, no retention phone calls. The no-card-required promise applies on the way out too.
