Today's gold rate in India
Wholesale reference — the rate jewellers use internally
Where this rate comes from
The gold rate on this page is sourced from the live Indian bullion market feed and updated every few minutes. Unlike many rate sites that show the RETAIL rate (already inflated with taxes + shop margin), Varadhi Gold shows the wholesale reference — the number jewellers use internally to price everything else.
1. Absolute range (22K must be ₹10,000–25,000/g — anything outside = bad data)
2. Median deviation vs recent history (>12% off = rejected)
3. Trend history fallback (if primary feed fails, use the last known good value)
If any check fails, we show "checking…" — never a bad rate.
Rates are GST-subtracted (the raw wholesale). Retail rates at your jeweller add 3% GST + making charges + wastage on top.
Quick reference — gold price by weight
Multipliers at today's live 22K and 24K rate. Handy for quick checks against a shop quote.
| Weight | 22K Gold | 24K Gold | Silver |

Values are raw gold cost at today's wholesale rate. Add making charges + wastage + 3% GST for the retail price at a shop.
Why your jeweller quotes more than this rate
The rate above is the raw gold cost. When you buy jewellery, the shop layers on:
Making charges (8–25% of gold value) — labour cost of crafting.
Wastage (2–15% of gold value) — the "gold lost" during crafting (often exaggerated with modern casting).
3% GST on the total (1.5% CGST + 1.5% SGST).
Sometimes a hidden margin baked into the base rate itself.
So a 10g piece at ₹13,150 wholesale isn't ₹1,31,500 in the shop — it's typically ₹1,55,000–1,75,000 after all layers. The Buy Gold Calculator does this math so you know exactly what a fair total looks like.
Gold rate today by city
The wholesale gold rate is essentially the same across India — set by the national bullion market. Small regional differences (usually ₹50–100/g) exist because of local jeweller-association benchmarks and transport premiums to smaller towns. City-specific pages below cover local gold markets, notable jewellers, and buying customs:
For other major cities — Chennai (Madras Bullion Merchants Association reference), Mumbai (India Bullion & Jewellers Association), Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Kerala — all fall within ₹100/g of each other on any given day. The live rate at the top of this page is a fair reference for anywhere in India.
Frequently asked questions
What is the gold rate today in India?
Today's live 22K gold rate in India is approximately ₹13,000–13,400 per gram (fluctuates through the day with international spot + INR/USD forex). 24K rate is ~₹14,200–14,600/g, 18K is ~₹10,700–11,000/g, silver is ~₹220–240/g. Rates on this page are GST-subtracted (the raw market wholesale rate), so they're what jewellers reference internally — retail rates you see in shops add making charges + wastage + 3% GST on top.
What is the 22k gold rate today per 1 gram?
The 22K gold rate today is roughly ₹13,000–13,400 per gram in India (live market wholesale, GST-subtracted). Retail rate at a jeweller is typically ₹500–1,000 per gram higher because shops include their margin. Check the live number at the top of this page — updated every few minutes from the market feed.
Why is the gold rate different at every jeweller?
The base per-gram gold rate is set by the international bullion market and doesn't vary much between shops (within ₹50–100/g on any given day). But retail quotes differ because each shop layers on making charges (8–25%), wastage (2–15%), and 3% GST. So a 20g piece can cost ₹3,00,000 at one shop and ₹3,80,000 at another — same gold, different markups.
Is the gold rate the same in Chennai, Delhi, Kerala, Bangalore?
The wholesale gold rate is essentially the same across India (set by the national bullion market). Small regional differences exist because of local taxes, jeweller-association benchmarks (Chennai's Madras Bullion Merchants Association sets a slightly different reference than Mumbai's), and transport premiums to smaller towns. Retail rates in Kerala, Chennai, and Bangalore are typically within ₹50–100/g of each other for the same karat.
How often is this gold rate updated?
The live rate on this page updates every few minutes from the market data feed. During market hours (roughly 9am–11:30pm IST when international markets are active), rates can change multiple times per hour. Weekend + overnight rates typically stay flat since global bullion markets are closed.
Does this rate include GST?
No — the rate shown on this page is GST-subtracted (the raw wholesale rate jewellers use internally). Retail rates at shops include 3% GST on top (1.5% CGST + 1.5% SGST). For the final price you'd pay, use the Varadhi Gold Buy Calculator which adds making, wastage, and GST layers on top of the live rate.
